Hello, all you fabulous mamas out there. My name is Marisa and I’m thrilled to share my latest, greatest and thrifty DIY project. Are you one of those gals who thinks you don’t have a crafty bone in your body? Are you so busy chasing after your kids, or trying to clean spit-up off your shirt, while giving one a bath and cooking dinner {or hearing your water boil over on the stove}? If you answered yes to any of these, which I’m sure you have, and you are a mom, then this is the perfect project for you!

First, let’s talk about this beauty of a find…a perfect piece of pallet that I found while in Florida on vacation. I literally drove passed this piece of wood THREE times, on three different days, and finally gave in and grabbed this sucker. Normally, I would have snatched it up on the first go around. But since our small SUV was already packed to the gills with luggage, two adults, two kids, and a partridge in a pear tree, I kept driving by. But I NEEDED it…and I found the perfect use for it.

*Quick disclosure: I am in no way being compensated for anything in this post or any name drops in conjunction with this post. I am simply sharing my absolute favorite products to use, and would like to share with all of you.*

Here’s what you will need to make your very own Farmhouse Inspired Kitchen Sign:

Supplies:

-Piece of pallet, reclaimed wood, or even new wood that you can distress yourself

-Antiquing wax {see picture below}

-3D cardboard letters {I found mine at Hobby Lobby and used 40% off coupon from their phone app}

-Spray paint in color of choice

-Glue {Crafter’s Pick — the ultimate}

-Bulldog hooks and triangle hooks for hanging

First, I spray painted the letters with my all time favorite brand Rust-oleum in Heirloom White. I find that Rust-oleum coats much better and you use less than Krylon brand. You can find Rust-oleum at Home Depot or AC Moore. I do know that Hobby Lobby and Micheal’s don’t carry it. Once the paint is dry, you can start “antiquing” your letters to make them look old and worn…you know, that good ole aged, farmhouse inspired look. I simply used a piece of wadded up paper towel and very lightly dipped it right into the wax and went to town. I focused a lot on the edges and crevices to really give it that aged look. you can use however much or little you want to use.

Once you have finished all of your letters, it’s time to glue. I prefer using Crafter’s Pick but you can also use hot glue. I just find the Crafter’s Pick works like a charm on MANY projects and can pretty much be used on any surface, including glass. After the letters are glued on and have set for the appropriate time, it’s time for hanging. I used one big triangle hook, and my favorite, Bulldog Hook, for hanging. Folks, this could not be any easier to hang. If you don’t know what Bulldog Hooks are, ya better ask somebody! They can hold various weights and are awesome.DIY, Rustic Decor, Rustic DIY, Farmhouse Inspired Decor, Reclaimed Wood DIY, Reclaimed Wood Decor, Farmhouse kitchen, Farmhouse Inspired, DIY Kitchen CraftsThe finished product is simple yet makes a big impact! I have had several people ask me where I bought it…it can be our little secret! This Rustic DIY can be made in less than an hour and gives your dining room or kitchen that farmhouse swag that so many of us crave like a bad habit. But this habit is oh so good. What other words would you use for your home? The possibilities are endless. I hope you enjoyed this easy, thrifty and nifty DIY project, because I know all of your house guests, including yourself, will simply adore it.

From one mama to another, let the crafting begin!
