Family gatherings are like a breath of fresh air during the hustle and bustle of the holiday season. Every year new and creative recipes can be found online ranging from classic dishes to twists on old favorites. We’ve all heard of potato salads, green beans, corn, and casseroles, all of which are great staples, but it’s always fun to bring something new and festive to spice up the food table.

Here are my favorites for 2017:

1. White Cheddar Cranberry Dip

This one had us saying, “WHO MADE THIS?!” all night! My friend Kylie made it for our “Friendsgiving” dinner and it was easily the star of the party (next to the turkey, of course!). It’s the perfect blend of cheesy, sweet, hearty deliciousness.

2. Paula Deen’s Rosemary and Garlic New Potatoes

Four ingredients and easy cleanup. You can’t go wrong with anything Paula cooks and potatoes are always a hit for a potluck meal, too! For those who prefer mashed potatoes, she has a delicious Garlic Mashed Potatoes recipe as well.

3. Nutella Cream Cheese Turnovers

Baking is not my thing and baking with pastry is definitely not my thing, but this recipe is so easy and so tasty. The Nutella+cream cheese+pastry combo is magical, I am convinced. Not only do these look beautiful, but they hold up really well and people love them!

4. Cheesy Spinach and Artichoke Bread Ring Dip

This one is easy, eye-catching, and so delicious! I like to make mine in a disposable pie pan because it’s easier to travel with. I always turn up the heat with red pepper flakes or Tabasco sauce when I mix my ingredients. This appetizer is perfect for guests to munch on while they wait for dinner!

5.  Cocktail Meatballs

No frozen meatballs allowed! This dish is a little more time consuming, but worth every bite. The meatballs are a great baked, made-from-scratch side dish; dress them up with some finely chopped parsley, and they look like the perfect holiday dish.

Autumn Longmire
I live in La Follette, TN with my husband Luke and our 3 children: Amelia (8), Lincoln (3), and Arthur (newborn). I'm a kindergarten teacher in the public school system and I absolutely love what I do. I'm very passionate about education and the well-being of children all over the world. I like to write about my experiences as both a mother and a teacher. Balancing both is really tricky, and I'm still getting the hang of it. My husband, who I truly believe is the world's best father, is an auctioneer at his family business Longmire Realty & Auction Co. While we love our jobs, we value family time the most. We spend a lot of time outdoors and love to go camping all over the east coast.
