Many of us probably had to wear braces at some point during our childhood. For me, it was two and a half years in middle school. During this time, we had to deal with brackets, bands, tightening, and all the fun (or not so fun) part of braces to get straightened teeth.

The technology has come a LONG way since those days, and now you can have a much more pleasant and not so noticeable experience with straightening teeth thanks to Invisalign.

Sequoyah Dental Arts is hosting an Invisalign Day on Tuesday, June 24th where YOU can find out if Invisalign is right for you AND at a HUGE discount! Not to mention a a chance to win Justin Timberlake tickets! {Raise your hand if you are a fan way back from the N’Sync Days!}

Commonly asked questions about Invisalign

  • What is Invisalign?

invisalign_triInvisalign is a modern approach to straightening teeth.  Using a custom-made series of aligners created for you and only you.  These aligner trays are made of smooth, comfortable and virtually invisible plastic that you wear over your teeth.  Wearing the aligners will gradually and gently shift your teeth into place, based on the exact movements your dentist or orthodontist plans out for you.

  • How often do I wear them?

One of the best things about Invisalign is the minimal impact it has on your everyday life.  Since the aligners are so comfortable, you should be able to wear them for the recommended 20-22 hours a day without much effort. Dr. Foncea recommends his patients wear them at all times unless eating or brushing.

You will remove the aligners each time you eat.  This means you can continue to eat all the foods you love without any restrictions or worrying about food getting stuck in your wires and brackets.  {Um hello remember no gum or popcorn? Or the fun cleaning utensils to get in between the braces?}

  • Are they easy to clean?

The aligners are super easy to clean.  Just clean them when you brush your teeth.  You can simply brush and rinse them in lukewarm water!  Also, your own hygiene is incredibly convenient-brush and floss like normal. This Is one of the biggest advantages of Invisalign over traditional orthodontics.

  • How long does it take?

This depends on your individual case.  Some cases are just 5 month but the typical person is in treatment for 18 months

  • Is it for everyone?

No, there are some very complex cases that traditional wire braces are better suited to fix.  However, most typical orthodontic cases have excellent results.  Dr. Foncea’s daughter and mother in law are both in Invisalign treatment right now. There is no “wrong” age for Invisalign.

It really is the best, most affordable day to begin treatment this year!  The exam and photos are free and if you decide to begin treatment that day you will have free x-rays, digital panarex, $500.00 off and free whitening gel for your trays.  We will also have on site specials for whitening packages.  My mother who is 69 as well as my 16 year old daughter are both in Invisalign right now; both enjoy it because you can’t see it and it doesn’t interfere with their lives.” –Julie Foncea, Dr. Foncea’s wife.

Over 20 years ago, I moved to Knoxville and fell in love with the city that has now truly become my home. Shortly after moving here, I married my college sweetheart, and when not working we set out to travel as much as we could. After working as a financial manager for six years, I welcomed my first son in 2010 and began a journey as a stay-at-home mom. Two years later we added another baby boy to make us a family of four. In June 2016, we welcomed our third son. I founded Knoxville Moms in November 2013 which began my career as a work-from-home mom, and it grew to the expansion of Chattanooga Moms in March 2016. We welcomed our first girl in November 2017 making us a family of six and adding a little pink in our house. In June 2021, I became the co-owner of the Atlanta Mom website, and in March 2022 I became the owner of the Nashville Moms parenting website. When I'm not carpooling the kids to sports and activities, you can find me enjoying a cup of coffee, reading a good book, and dreaming about my toes in the sand. I enjoy meeting new people and enjoy connecting the moms of Knoxville, Chattanooga, Atlanta, and Nashville.
