Knoxville Coffee Shops

One of my favorite things to do is catch up with a friend over a piping hot cup of fantastically smooth Joe. Over the last several years, Knoxville and the surrounding counties have really stepped up their coffee game and we now have SO MANY wonderful options for coffee splurges!

Starbucks will work in a pinch, but these local coffee shops add some extra fun to your coffee experience:

The Empty Cup — Located at 9111 Executive Park Dr. Open Monday – Friday (7am-6pm), Saturday from (8am-6pm) and closed on Sunday. The Empty Cup is a non-profit coffeehouse, with a special focus on great coffee, the Knoxville community, and adoption. They proudly serve Just Love Coffee, a coffee roasting company located in Murfreesboro, TN, with a heart for helping those in need. All proceeds from The Empty Cup go towards creating adoption grants and providing adoption education in Knoxville and throughout Tennessee. Visit their Facebook page here

Coffee and Chocolate — Located at 327 Union Ave. Open Monday – Thursday (7:30am-10pm), Friday (7:30am-11pm), Saturday (8am-11pm) and Sunday (9am-10pm). Coffee and Chocolate is a favorite place to stop in Market Square while on a date night. They offer cakes, cookies, coffees and even cater. There are a few indoor tables and some outdoor spots as well, so you can enjoy your treats while taking in the sights and sounds of the Square. Be sure to check out their Facebook page

Old City Java — Located at 109 S Central St. Open Monday – Friday (7am-8pm) and Saturday and Sunday (8am-8pm). Old City Java offers direct trade coffees, baked goods and is a great place to unwind and listen to an amazing local band or two, or observe local artwork. Their Facebook page can be found here.

Honeybee Coffee — Two locations: 10716 Kingston Pike and 700 Sevier Ave. The West Knoxville location is open Monday – Thursday (7am-9pm), Friday (7am-10pm), Saturday (8am-10pm) and Sunday (8am-7pm). The South location is open Monday – Friday (7am-7pm), Saturday and Sunday (8am-7pm). Honeybee has some of the best cold brew coffee I’ve ever had in my life — pair it with one of their parfaits and your morning should be GOLDEN! They have a few other delicious items on their menu and provide an excellent place to host a business meeting. Check out their Facebook page

K Brew — Located at 1138 N. Broadway. Open Monday – Saturday (7am-8pm) and Sunday (8am-8pm). Great atmosphere, great coffee and some yummy treats too! Brew offers a FREE coffee class where you’ll be immersed in the world of specialty coffee. Their expert baristas will teach you how to taste coffee for various flavors, how to identify different regions, and answer any questions you have about how to brew better. All of this while surrounded by friends who are eager to learn! You can find out more at this link.

Maple Street Biscuit Company — Two locations in Knoxville: 10837 Hardin Valley Road and 9314 Kingston Pike. Both locations have the same business hours: Monday – Thursday (7am-2pm), Friday and Saturday (7am-3pm), and closed Sunday. While this isn’t only a coffee shop, I felt like it HAD to be included on our coffee list. Not only are their biscuits sinfully delicious, but their coffee is ON POINT every single time. You can check out the Hardin Valley Facebook page here and the Kingston Pike Facebook page here.

SoKno Market — Located at 2014 W. Gov. John Sevier Highway. Open Monday – Saturday (6:30am-6:30pm) and closed on Sundays. Start your day with a cup of SoKno Joe and a breakfast sandwich, or stop by for lunch and try one of their craft sodas and a panini stuffed with Fox’s Famous peachwood smoked barbecue. Visit their Facebook page here.

Remedy Coffee — Located at 800 Tyson Street. Open Monday – Thursday 7am to 7pm, Friday 7am-midnight, Saturday and Sunday 8am-7pm. Be sure to check out their Facebook page to read their excellent reviews!

Vienna Coffee at The Regas Building — Located at 318 North Gay Street. Open Monday – Saturday (8am-6pm) and closed Sundays. Named “…the state’s best coffee…” in 2016, Vienna Coffee’s newest location is now in the famed Regas Building in downtown Knoxville. Lenoir City

Ugly Mug Coffee — Located at 108 S. B St. Open Monday – Friday (7am-7pm), Saturday (8am-7pm) and Sunday (9am-3pm). Ugly Mug Coffee is a relatively new addition to Lenoir City and is already a community favorite. It serves breakfast, lunch, pastries and, of course, delicious coffee. It’s modeled after The Ugly Mug in Memphis. There is a drive-thru for moms on the go. When the weather is warm, the patio is a nice spot, especially when the kiddos are in tow. Three Bears Coffee!! Local roaster with some amazing coffee by the cup or the pound. No fancy drinks (cold or hot in various brews) but hands down the best cup of joe and a very knowledgeable, friendly staff. My girls have been drinking their decaf since they were little! Most people know him from blue/green coffee truck at the market but the shop is on Sevier Ave right by Alchemy and Uncle Lems. Seriously worth a visit!
