Superheroes, princesses, ghosts and goblins – get ready! The Town of Farragut will host the 19th annual Freaky Friday Fright Nite on Friday, October 30 from 5 to 7pm at Mayor Bob Leonard Park on Watt Road. The event will provide a safe place for children to participate in Halloween activities while benefiting the Knoxville Ronald McDonald House.

Children age 12 and under and in costume are invited to “trick or treat” around the walk trail at the park. Local businesses, community groups and Town volunteers will hand out the treats, provide games with prizes, assist with cookie decorating and serve refreshments. For a complete list of participating businesses and organizations, visit www.townoffarragut.org/freakyfriday.

The Town has partnered with the Knoxville Ronald McDonald House each year of the event since 2000 in order to collect essential items that the House needs to continue day-to-day operations. The Ronald McDonald House provides a “home away from home” for families with critically ill children being served by area hospitals and depends on community donations to operate. Families are provided all services for a nominal fee or for free of charge if they are unable to pay.

“What a wonderful opportunity to enjoy some family fun and to help those in need at the same time,” said Sue Beverly, Director of the Knoxville Ronald McDonald House. “All the donations that are collected during Freaky Friday for our Ronald McDonald House are so deeply appreciated and put to good use by the grateful residents of our ‘House that Love Built.’”

While Freaky Friday Fright Nite is a free event, participants are asked to donate one or more of the following items: food items including individually wrapped crackers (cheese and peanut butter varieties), snack cakes and granola bars; household items including kitchen size and large trash bags, paper towels, styrofoam bowls, dishwasher detergent, Lysol spray, bed pillows and 60 watt CFL light bulbs; postage stamps; and gift cards to discount stores (Walmart), grocery/hardware stores (Kroger, Home Depot, Lowe’s) and gas stations. Cash donations will also be accepted. Collection stations will be located at two areas: next to the cookie decorating station and next to the entrance from the Harrison Road parking lot.

Over 20 years ago, I moved to Knoxville and fell in love with the city that has now truly become my home. Shortly after moving here, I married my college sweetheart, and when not working we set out to travel as much as we could. After working as a financial manager for six years, I welcomed my first son in 2010 and began a journey as a stay-at-home mom. Two years later we added another baby boy to make us a family of four. In June 2016, we welcomed our third son. I founded Knoxville Moms in November 2013 which began my career as a work-from-home mom, and it grew to the expansion of Chattanooga Moms in March 2016. We welcomed our first girl in November 2017 making us a family of six and adding a little pink in our house. In June 2021, I became the co-owner of the Atlanta Mom website, and in March 2022 I became the owner of the Nashville Moms parenting website. When I'm not carpooling the kids to sports and activities, you can find me enjoying a cup of coffee, reading a good book, and dreaming about my toes in the sand. I enjoy meeting new people and enjoy connecting the moms of Knoxville, Chattanooga, Atlanta, and Nashville.
