Be BOLD, Go Bright!

Summer is almost here and now is the time to pick a bold statement for your home! The warmer months bring on bright, exciting colors and textures. When selecting the right materials and colors, it’s easy to get a pretty and practical room.

Here’s a few of my favorite things to add a little pop of color and texture to a room:

{Chalk Paint® by Annie Sloan is a quick and easy way to add a dash of color. No stripping, prepping or priming makes this paint a dream to use. The colors are rich and pigment based. 1. Paint

A bold color on an accessory or accent piece is a great way to add a pop of color to a room. I always tend to gravitate towards blues and greens because they are so easy to coordinate many things with. The colors featured above are Florence and Graphite which create a pretty Boho vibe.

{Succulents and cacti are a great way to add texture and color. They require little care! Image via Pinterest.}

2. Add a succulent or cactus

These sweet little plants are making a big impact in decor. They are easy to care for and are fun to group together. These plants love to have dry feet, so make sure you have a container that will drain well. There are also great faux styles as well. Succulents and cacti are easy to pick up from the hardware store and make a quick centerpiece.

{Bold rugs make a room vibrant and are forgiving with showing stains and wear. Featured rug: Gypsy Rose in cotton by Dash and Albert and available at The Back Porch Mercantile. Image via Pinterest.}

3. Place a vibrant rug

A bold rug can make a huge impact on a room. You can also layer a smaller, bright rug over jute for a large impact, budget friendly statement.

{Kilim pillows are a beautiful addition to many spaces and come in different colors. This pillow is by Dash and Albert from The Back Porch Mercantile Image via Pinterest at Vintage Revival.}

4. Add a bright pillow

Pillows are a quick way to add a dash of color to the bed or couch. They also come in a variety of textures and fabrics. A bold addition would be a pillow made of a Kilim rug, a textured surface or pom pom trim.

{Baskets are always great accessories that are pretty and practical. They are good for storage or used like a table as seen here. Image via Pinterest from Liz Marie Galvan.}

5. Baskets

These are a year-round favorite to keep things organized and to add visual interest. Rattan in the summer is always a great addition to any decor. The baskets shown above are from Target in the Room Essentials Line. I purchased this exact basket and plan on using it to help organize my studio and office.

Do you like bright colors? What are your favorites? Summer is a good time to add a little bit of color to your home.
