On Saturday We Wear Orange (1)

If you listen closely, you will hear a familiar sound rising out of Neyland Stadium. In a matter of  days, The Pride of the Southland Band will be joined by a chorus of fans singing “Rocky Top” and cheering at the top of their lungs for the Tennessee Volunteers.

After months of waiting, it’s finally football time in Tennessee!

As much as I love going to the games, one of my favorite traditions doesn’t involve football at all, but rather the pre-game activity of choosing just the right outfit. In East Tennessee, orange and white should be worn as often as possible — for cheering on the Vols and all the other great fall activities around town.

Fortunately, Knoxville boasts a plethora of local boutiques and shops, which make it easy to spruce up the family’s game day and fall wardrobe while supporting local businesses:

Val’s Boutique

Val’s Boutique is a great stop for women’s game day fashion. Located on Kingston Pike, near West Town Mall, this shop offers all-occasion orange and white tops as well as rompers, dresses, skirts, jewelry and accessories. The large selection provides plenty of options for games and fall activities.

A.N. Gray Boutique

Located in The Southern Market, A.N. Gray Boutique is a well-equipped shop, featuring a variety of women’s clothing choices from sleeveless maxi dresses to cashmere cardigans. They also have plenty of stadium-approved handbags, on-trend jewelry, and accessories. And since game weekend starts on Friday and ends on Sunday, this shop offers some dressier options that can be worn to the office or church. This and many other booths make Southern Market a worthwhile stop for outfitting the Volunteer family and home.

The Back Porch Mercantile and Ironic

Right down the road from Southern Market, is a row of shops where you can find attire as well as gifts for all the Vol fans in your life. The Back Porch Mercantile is a lifestyle shop that also sells unique game day looks. Ironic Decor and Gift sells home décor and attire, including a curvy clothing line and children’s t-shirts made by locally owned Little Hoot Designs.

Twig Children’s Boutique

For the little Vols in your life, check out Twig Children’s Boutique. This contemporary children’s clothing store sells quality brands for babies through tweens, and is a great option for unique looks for football and fall.

Knoxville’s many local shops are great places to find orange and white attire for the entire family.

Crenshaw Children’s Shop

Crenshaw Children’s Shop has a wide selection of classic looks for children, including smocked dresses for little girls and jon-jons for little boys. These precious items are a great option for game day, church, or even fall pictures.

M.S. McClellan and Co.

M. S. McLellan is an upscale men’s and women’s retailer that has been a Knoxville staple since 1966. This is an especially good choice for the man in your life who wants to show Volunteer spirit while maintaining a professional appearance. They also offer game day attire, exclusive brands, and gifts for even the most discerning Tennessee fan.

J.P. Coffin’s

Located in Franklin Square in West Knoxville, J.P. Coffin’s is a great choice for classic, stylish attire for women. They have a great selection of orange and white dresses, skirts, tops, jewelry, and accessories with quality that will last throughout multiple seasons.

Chasing Willows

Another Franklin Square shop, Chasing Willows offers unique and trendy Neyland-ready items for women and even a few some cute matching tees for little girls.

Weiss Baby

Weiss Baby offers classic and casual clothing and gifts for babies and children up to size 4. There are many great options for football season babies and the smallest Volunteer fans.

We are ready for fall with orange and white items purchased from local shops. From top left: cold-shoulder top and earrings from Val’s Boutique, girls’ custom applique tee from Adorable child, men’s polo from M.S. McClellan, women’s cotton dress from Back Porch Mercantile, orange bow from Adorable Child, girls’ necklace and dress from Twig Children’s Boutique.

Spoiled Rotten Boutique

This Karns-area women’s boutique features trendy and affordable orange and white items from casual tees to kimonos. They also have an assortment of clear crossbody bags, fun jewelry, and accessories.

Bluetique

If you’re heading downtown, it’s worth checking out Bluetique in Market Square for creative orange and white options for women.

Nothing Too Fancy

For more casual attire, Nothing Too Fancy offers a wide variety of soft vintage-inspired t-shirts for the entire family.

The Adorable Child

This Farragut gem offers new, custom clothing and gifts as well as consignment items for women and children. It’s a great place for applique game day attire and a great selection of orange hair bows in whatever shade is needed for the outfit of the day.

These are just a few of the wonderful options for dressing like national champions this season. The good news is, even if your family isn’t into football, these stores offer plenty of looks that are festive enough for game day, but subtle enough for you to enjoy the rest of your fall activities.
