The Farragut Business Alliance and Town of Farragut will again usher in the holiday season with the 4th Annual Light the Park, Presented by TDS.
The event will be held from 6:00-7:00pm on Monday, December 1st at Founder’s Park at Campbell Station (Campbell Station Road, near the Farragut branch of the Knox County Library). Parking is available across the street from the park, courtesy of Farragut Assembly of God. The Knox County Sheriff’s Department will be on hand to assist those crossing Campbell Station Road.
A ceremonial tree lighting will be officiated by the Farragut Board of Mayor and Aldermen (and maybe even a surprise guest!). Attendees can look forward to enjoying the holiday cheer of 60 lighted trees, garland pole wraps and other lighted decorations showcasing over 36,000 bulbs.
The seasonal sounds of Concord Brass and First Baptist Concord Elevate Children’s Choir will fill the air and complimentary hot cocoa and coffee (courtesy of FirstWatch The Daytime Cafe) and VG’s Bakery’s Christmas cookies will round out the celebration.
In addition to those mentioned above, sponsors include SouthEast Bank (Platinum Sponsor); Costco Wholesale (Silver Sponsor); The Shrimp Dock (Community Sponsor); and farragutpress & i105.3 WFIV (Media Sponsors).
There is no cost to attend the event and it will be held rain or shine.
Families Invited to Meet Santa, Enjoy Holiday Fun at Celebrate the Season
The Farragut Beautification Committee will present the 21st annual Celebrate the Season on Thursday, December 4 from 4:30 to 7pm at the Farragut Town Hall. The community is invited to enjoy the beautiful Town Hall holiday decorations, sample treats and enjoy the numerous activities and performances being offered.
Celebrate the Season will feature photos with Santa beginning at 4:30pm with the final number for photos handed out at 6pm. In addition, families will hear musical performances by the TNT Mountain Dulcimer Trio, the Bearden United Methodist Church Children’s Bell Choir (kids in the audience can learn a tune on the bells too!), and the Farragut High School Madrigal Singers. Other activities will include cookie decorating, a craft and Farragut Folklife Museum tours.
Photos with Santa will be taken with a digital camera and will be available for purchase after the event on a designated photo website. Instructions for viewing and ordering photos will be given to parents that evening. Parents are also welcome to take photos with their personal cameras.
The entire array of events at Celebrate the Season is free; however, a canned good donation is requested for the Second Harvest Food Bank of East Tennessee. Second Harvest experiences its most urgent need for food donations during the fall holiday season, and the Town of Farragut partners with the organization each year to collect canned goods for the hungry in Knoxville and East Tennessee. Red donation bins will be available at both entrances of the Town Hall throughout the month of December.
The Farragut Town Hall is located at 11408 Municipal Center Drive across from the Farragut Branch Post Office. For more information about Celebrate the Season, please visit www.townoffarragut.org or contact Arleen Higginbotham at [email protected] or 966-7057.
